Maine Mountain Division Trail
The Maine Mountain Division Alliance has achieved non profit status! While there's currently only about $100 in the bank, we'll now be able to accept tax deductible donations. This can help the budget and help us get this project advancing.
Also, the DOT and Guilford Transportation may be close to finalizing the purchase of the rails lines from Rt.202 in Windham into Westbrook. This is money that was going to be used for upgrading what has already been bought, but the state couldn't pass up the opportunity to extend the trail further towards Portland. With this purchase, the state will own from the Maine / NH border to Westbrook. They're getting closer to Portland every day.
Lastly, it looks like the DOT has enough funding to extend the upgrades from the present eastern end at Gambo road to Route 202. The way funding was received, it may actually get pavement too! This could be the first section of paved trail. That's a very positive step.
