Maine Mountain Division Trail
The original section of the Mountain Division Trail along with the Shaw Park connector was paved in August. There are now almost 6 miles of paved trail from Rt 202 to the Otter Ponds in Standish. Trail use has increased dramatically in just a few weeks as word gets out.

Trail users who would like to Park at the Rt 202 end may use the Post Office parking lot on 202. The trail is only paved to the Otter Ponds. The 1-mile jeep connector trail up to Johnson Field on Rt 35 in Standish is still a gravel surface.

The rail bed from Rt 202 in South Windham is open for use. The rails were removed by Pan Am Railway prior to the purchase by MaineDOT. This unimproved interim trail is open only to Bridge St. in Westbrook as the rail bed joins a currently active rail line just before Brown St. Mountain Bikes are recommended for this section.

The engineering on the 4.1 Fryeburg section is complete. We were hoping to start construction this fall, but it was delayed and construction should start in the spring of 2010.

The Mountain Division Alliance is working closely with Portland Trails and the Sebago to the Sea Coalition to make a connection from Westbrook into Portland.
