The Maine Mountain Division Trail Alliance has just received non profit status from the IRS! What this means all donations are now tax deductible.
The Alliance is working with the state in raising funds for the actual trail improvement. The state has been applying for federal money, and that is how most of the trail work has been accomplished so far. Any donations most likely won't fund actual trail improvements as the dollar amounts needed there are quiet high.
Any donates to the Alliance will most likely go towards things like brochures, trail maps, signs, and events designed to bring awareness to our communities on what is happening. It won't go towards anyones salary as this is 100% volunteer organization. The non profit status is new, but if you want to be one of the first to donate, please e-mail Dave Kinsman. This has been a ten year project so far, and it would be nice to have some funding for things that federal grant money doesn't cover.
